C5 vs G35 Coupe

BUT, its no vette. There is really no way to put it in words. When you get in the Vette, start her up and put her through her paces, time stops.
Either one is a good choice. I don't think you would regret getting one over the other. All I can recommend is that you test drive both. This is the only way you will get the feel for which one suites you best. Best of luck!

As far as the G35 Coupe goes, it is an amazing car, and We were seriously considering buying one. We kept comparing it to the Corvette. It even handles better than the NISSAN 350z, due to the longer wheel base.
The problem is, we could only buy one "fun" car, and the Corvette won.
AND, of course, INFINITI didn't make the car topless.
Everyone I know that ows a 350z or G35 want more power (Of course SO DO THE VETTE OWNERS).
If you want to talk INFINITI's give www.nicoclub.com a try. There are a lot of INFINITI owners that feel just as passionalte about their cars as us Corvette owners. Thye just have to travel overseas to visit the plant.
I get a G35 loaner car whenever I am getting my oil changed or service, and like the power, but hate the V6 engine noise. The car sounds angry. It is nothing like the rumble of the Corvette V8.
and thats if i am lucky, odds are I'll just be told to sit and spin...
Those who disagree can and will..but foriegn manufacturers certainly have the customer service aspect down and GM/FORD could learn ALOT from them in that regard.

If your looking for cushy then the g35 might be for you. You can always upgrade the interior of the c5 with nicer leather and other items.
GL in your decision

DON'T DO IT! You will regret it if you end up buying the G35 and then drive the VETTE later. One of the Senior Chiefs here has one and he complains of the lack of power and the brakes get really really hot to quickly.

Great POINT!
The proof you ask??? Granted, running on a straight line, not much of a contest from standing start or once in 3rd gear and the C5 pulls away pretty good.
But Watch this and you be the judge. There are several points where the G can definately hold it's own - I was MAJOR surprised as I was a 2 time returning runner to the track and the first for the G and in places the G35 definately proved it's worth!m - It was an 05 stock automatic!
TAKE A L@@K HERE First few show just my C5 running it's best times and running line, then comes the pest!

Very nice run.... looks like fun!!!!! I'm gonna have to sign up for it this May...something I've always wanted to do and it would make one helluva b-day present since mine's on May 9th.
I watched the video in its' entirety and couldn't quite understand why the G35 was considered "pesky"... He couldnt pick a line at stick with it, and I counted several times where you actually had to slow down to avoid hitting it.... from that aspect, you're right... it was certainly pesky, but as far as competition was concerned, I didn't see one sign of peskiness....I actually loved watching you pass him like he was standing still!!!!

Perhaps I'm just missing something, or the video was just deceiving...please explain "pesky".
Sorry and Thanks in advance.
The VIDEO - Run at Texas Motor Speedway last May. Lots a vette guys made the run...probably around 20+ vettes showed up for the day at the track
TOP SPEEDS - on my pretty much nearly stock C5, I was getting 130 +/- a little across the start finish line - hit 100 in the high bank (can really feel some G force as well). And, YES - IT WAS A BLAST of a time! Great way to learn your and your cars limits and what it was really made and designed for.
NOISE - the noise if because the windows are down. The camera in line with partition, so that's where all the noise hit the mic. Actually they require (unless raining) windows down - no overheating on the A/C system, as well as more power, and they didn't want any helmets knocking out a side window and having everyone come off the track and loose whatever would have been left in that session of running. (Everyone had an incentive to be good...as it cost everyone if one wasn't)
PESKY G... That was just because I intially laughed (LMAO) when I saw 3 of them out running with the cobras, C5, and Rustangs. But damned if he didn't put up a pretty good show for his 'first time' run at the track. Had no clue on the race line and had a lot of overstear on the road course (or just plain bad driving - don't know). There were only two places to pass on the track.. One was the short straight away inside the road course, the other on the back straight on the oval up and BEFORE entering turn 4 on the high bank. Each were very close to "I could of made it" but didn't...just dropped back.. And, the G35 on the little quick S turn on the inside road course was actually pretty impressive on pick up and speed. I gave it my all to try to pass, but it was bumper to bumper.
CONCLUSION - I would never buy the G35 over my C5, not in a heartbeat...for for a quick and surprisingly well handling car it can claim some bragging rights for being just a 6 banger! One decked with sport tuned suspension, stick and a few bolts on's may just surprise a stock C5 from a 20 to 80 MPH run. After that, it's pure AMERICAN V8 Muscle power leaving them in the dust.
Hope that covers it all.
exactly. I would have driven circles around that G35 at any point of that track with a stock C5. Not sure if you had an auto but I didn't see a lot of shifting and it looked like you were on a joy ride around the track. lol
