exactly. I would have driven circles around that G35 at any point of that track with a stock C5. Not sure if you had an auto but I didn't see a lot of shifting and it looked like you were on a joy ride around the track. lol
Armchair racers know it all.....
Key sentence missed. There were only two places to pass on the track.. One was the short straight away inside the road course, the other on the back straight on the oval up and BEFORE entering turn 4 on the high bank.
This event was NOT a race or time trials or anything else. Merely a chance for anyone to bring their own street car and get a chance to run on a NASCAR track and try to learn some road course driving. In fact, the point was to try to stay AWAY from other cars. Nobody wanted to trade paint and nobody was a professional, including myself.

The black vette passed before entering turn 4. I know I could have passed anywhere on the track - just operating within the quidelines as mandated by the hosts.
The reason I have a C5 now is that I test drove a 350Z first, then did much homework on the 350Z and the G35. THe 350 has a problem with premature tire wear on the inside fronts, the so-called tire feathering or cupping issue, depending on which of many threads you read. Many owners are replacing fronts in less than 10k miles, routinely, and act like it is not a problem! No one can say for sure if Nissan has fixed the problem in the latest Z's after the first several years worth of complaints. The forum guys think it is a suspension design defect. So I looked at the G35 forums and found that some owners are experiencing the same problem as the 350Z's. Now, for each car, there are some that say they have never had the problem. It just seemed too risky to me to get either car. And the G35 just does not look like a sports car enough to me. THEN that light bulb in my head said, hey I am looking at $25k-$30k for a garage queen 350, so maybe I should check out the C5's. Now I am so happy I did that, and found my GQ that is a 2002 mag red, in like new condition and mileage. And I AGREE it is an American ICON, much more so than the 350Z, and that was indeed another factor I considered in jumping in head first. Anyway, that is my 2 bits worth! Go C5!!

A couple of months ago, I was in the market for a new car. I checked the Mercedes forum, the Corvette Forum and the Lexus forum looking for feedback on a AMG 32, SC430 and C5.
I felt like Goldilocks and the Three Bears.
The Corvette AND the forum, was far and away superior to the other two. The Mercedes guys were actually pretty cool, but the Lexus forum dudes were real dullards. No help whatsoever.
I concluded:
The Mercedes was too small
The Lexus was too feminine
The Corvette was "just right".
I own a G35 coupe, red, 19 inch chrome wheels and the works. BOught it for the Mrs. Very nice car, handles like a dream. Not in the same performance class as my vette though... ...maybe it's my mods?

Just watched the video aain with sound and you were not pushing that vette at all. You were in the wrong gear going into the corners and the wrong gear coming out. I understand that you guys were going at it easy but that video is in no ways comparing the 2 cars. Put 2 pro drivers in each and let them go at it. You would see the G35 about a lap down after the time you were in there.

Wow, some people just don't get it...
Did you read his post where he said there were times where he knew he could've passed but just chose not to? Or where he was pretty impressed with the performance of the G35? Sounds to me like he was making some observations and having a good time, rather than 'going all out' like it sounds like you want to do.
Sign yourself up for a run, have at it, and post the vid, but for God's sake, stop pissing on his thread... how 'bout it?
