Default How much oil do you burn?

Seems like my early model 2000 (born sometime in 10/99) A4 3.15 burns around half a quart every 3,000 miles. It only has about 35,000 miles on it and everything else seems fine with it. My foot is a little on the heavy side but I haven't done any racing or really been hard on the car. I thought this was a problem for later model 00 and 01 drivin hard. What year C5 do you have and how much oil do you burn?

97 here and not a drop! I go 5K between changes and the stick always reads the same level from day 1 to the 5K mile point.

It all depends upon my driving habits; some aggressive mountain running will certainly burn up a bit more, but even with that, my C5 is using between 1/2-1 quart every 3-4K miles.

I read somewhere about this issue, but I thought it was related as a known issue on some 2001 models.

And whether or not you've had the oil consumption problem/fix...

I've got a pair of 2002's and neither burn any oil.

Half a quart at 3K miles with a heavy side foot is not bad. There were some issues with C5's that burned a quart every +/- 1K mikes.

I burn about 1/2 quart every 5000 miles or so. I catch about an once or two per oil change in my AMW during that time as well. I do not baby the car, and it does see redline from time to time.

I have an '01 Vert and it burns ZEEE-ROOOOOH oil. It's not even black (dark brown but not black) when I change it at 5,000 mile intervals or when the DIC gets into the 30% range.

Thanks for your responses. I feel better now. Glad to see I am not alone even though most of you don't have this problem. Probably just a little too much spirited driving.
