Default the corvette feeling

well guys as u all can tell, i love to chat up a storm. i would like to know what feelings you guys have driving your corvette. i only test drove 1 vette but i sat in quite a few. i can tell you how i feel just from sitting in it. i feel pure history and pure american sports car power at my fingertips. you can see the proud history of your vette when you look around inside and outside. as the car body evolves each time, it always keeps with the tradition of the old favorites. the round tail lights, the flip up lights, the curves. there is a reason why the corvette was dubbed "America's True Sports Car". The ford mustang has a proud history but not like the vette. the vette was an old 6 cylinder until it recieved the v8 transplant and never looked back. the chevrolet corvette is the true american revolution for chevrolet. there is no feeling that can top buying your first corvette. lottery winners can have any car they want but it just seems they want a corvette. i have owned quite a few cars myself but nothing compares to wanting my first corvette. nothing will ever compare when you set eyes on your first vette in the lots or coming off the trucks.
i remember when i purchased my very first brand new car. it was a 2001 S10 Xtreme. i was 21 years old. i bought it through a special program for the military overseas. they shipped it over. the anxiety of seeing it...the tension and the sleepless nights. i was led to a private garage where it sat ready to be checked out. all i can remember was a british lady saying things to me but it went one ear and out the other. i was oogling over my purchase and the looks of the truck. it is a feeling i would never forget or ever let go. walking around that corner and seeing my Xtreme sitting there ready...waiting to be driven. chevrolet built it exactly how i ordered it. it was the most beautifulest thing i have ever seen. i waited 6 months from order to build to shipping. so much work into it and so much saving. so much anxiety and exciting thoughts!
i can only imagine what my reaction and thoughts would be if i was told my vette was in (whenever i do get one LOL!!). so many thoughts in my mind..so much to do! true anxiety and giddyness takes over as you head to the dealership to see your new baby. i cant wait to experience that feeling . i have gone through alot of cars but nothing will compare to the feeling i want to feel when i score my very first corvette. absolutely nothing will ever compare.
today, my girlfriend thought it was stupid that i want a corvette. i told her that i dont need a 3 row seating expedition when i am single and have no kids. (post divorce stuff). she doesnt care for what it is like to own something she has always wanted. she has a big interest in a lexus IS300. i am sure she will know what it is like to get her car of her dreams. for some odd reason, she got upset with me and hung up the phone (must be that time of the year). My father, on the other hand, was more supportive and cant wait to see it should i ever get one. he used to have a 1977 stingray so he knows about the vette feeling. he ordered me to take a road trip to las vegas so he can see it.
i am sure most of u guys have gone through criticism and silly stuff prior to getting a vette or any car. no one will understand your decision to do what you want to do. only you will understand yourself and that is all the satisfaction you need. we werent placed on this earth to accept other criticism. we were placed on this earth once and i plan on living my life out as i see it. one day, when im an old fart, i want to look back on these days as the "glory days". i know the old timers here remember their glory days when stangs, vettes, hemi's took over the streets. those will be our days one day. that is the ultimate feeling that will never be forgotten when life goes on....the glory days...

Here's to the glory days

P.S. Don't forget to take pictures. Seems when we get older and want to reminisce of those glory days, we can't remember crap.

other than that, i am trying to get my post count up and get my thoughts on the boards! i used to post stuff like this on the mustang boards but no one cared. my threads here have been the most popular ever in my life LOL! this is why i love the vette community..we always have something to say and we are all united under 1 banner!

Dude, I agree 100% with you on the feelings for the vette. But don't forget it's just a car, and you need to keep a focus on what's important. Good friends and family just can't be replaced, so if your girl is or may be the right one for you, at least hear her out and weigh her persepctive.

And now back to the important topic ( ), take your time in finding the right car at the right price. You'll love it more and keep it longer.

Hmm.... how 'bout trading in the girl for the vette??

If my girl got upset with me about gettin' a vette, I that's all I would need to instantly know that she is someone I will not waste any more time with.

When I got my vette, I regretted waiting for so long to get one.

Get it now. Before you start a family and all that stuff....

There are plenty of ladies out there and I'd say any 40 out of 100 ladies would do good as a long term mate. That's a big pool to choose from. Be picky.

IMHO, of course....

Good luck!

I hope you own a Vette someday. As someone else said it's only a car, but a truely cool car nonetheless. After you own one the novelty will wear off a bit, the passion may cool. But from time to time it will come roaring back! Most days when I walk past my Corvette, it gets a glance. Then somedays I look at it and say WOW! What a cool car! As far as the glory days, those days are now. I think that what's available from manufactures today for perfromance fans is by far superior to what was offered in the 60's. Now is the best time ever to be an auto enthusiast

when i get behind the wheel of our c5 & turn the key---the magic happens. seeing the gauges wake up & hearing that music from the rear of the car is amazing. slip it into drive (a4) & it feels great! now, having said that, i never forget that it's just a car-------a very special car mind you---------but just a car. we're on our 2nd corvette & along the way, like many, we did a lot of financially responsible things (ie. put 2 kids thru to their undergrad degrees, eliminated credit card debt entirely, & more). if a vette fits in around the truly important things in life, then it's a good thing. the vette is a nice thing but it's not an important thing. good luck. bub

Believe me when I tell you that you will have plenty of comments from friends and familly about buying a vette. I am 58 years old and had wanted a vette for forty years. When I finally purchased one six weeks ago, i heard it all. Man why do you want a vette, you are to old for a vette, middle aged crazy, I heard it all. I think some people just don't get it. Vettes and vette people are special. Its in you blood. My only regret is waiting so long to get one. Hope you can get one at a young age and enjoy it. Good luck. By the way, this forum is really the best place for information on Vettes. Read it daily.
