How about adding this to the thread topic, A guy calling his car his baby or his lady or her, BTW a nuclear aircraft carrier has more destructive power that all the bombs and bullets used in the 2nd world war including the 2 nuclear bombs dropped... Carriers are referred to as "'Shes". C5 is a thing of beauty
Now a Guy calling his car a "Beast" in my opinion would fall more into the gay catigory..its like a reverse play on words... especially if the beast came equipped with the Village people's greatest hits CD.
Am I alone in assuming that anyone who refers to their
Corvette as "her", or "she".... is Gay?
Woah.. that's strange. So.. what you are saying is if a man refers to an object in the feminine sense, then he is attracted to other men and wants to have sex with them? I would never have expected that. I figured it takes a lot more than that to define a person's sexual preferences.
Thanks to your insight, we now know how frail the human-sexual-identity truely is. .... hmmm...
We "love" our Vettes so we refer to them as her or she, UNLESS you're gay, then it's "him", or azz rocket.
Damn dude that was funny! Well my car is a her and both my wife and I call it that. It is a term of respect and love and pampering. Nothing gay about it IMO. Still, that is funny as hell and my guys came into my office to see what I was rolling on the flooor about!
Dave
Now let me get this right! Your gay if you refer to your vette as a she... does that mean that after a hard day at work you would tell your co-workers ''Icant wait to get in him and really really let go!'' Somehow that just doesn't sound right! unless yor on your way to broke back mountain.....
I found the following on the net and I thought it summed up my thoughts on the subject pretty well.
Quote:
: : : : : : : : : : Why are certain vessels (boats, automobiles) called she. Why are they known in a feminine way. For example "she is a beauty" when referring to a new car.
: : : : : : : : : Because you have to treat them like a lady or they will act up and cause havoc.
: : : : : : : : The concept of gender in English nouns has little use--it gets more of a workout in other languages like Spanish, German and French. where the gender controls the form of the noun depending on the case in which it is used (subject, object, etc.), whether it's plural, etc. Most nouns referring to inanimate objects in English are neutral, in other words, they're "its." For animate creatures, unless the sex is known, the default gender tends to be female (as in, "Nice fish you caught there, Earl," "Yep, she's a beauty.") Cars, boats, and musical instruments have a liminal quality as objects that causes us to engender them female.....
Thanks talon90, a very intelligent answer to this whole thing.
I call My vette a she rather than a he of course .
I would much rather say that I am "riding" HER every day , then the other way .
The Vette will always be a SHE , and she is a BABE at that with a very cute AZZ.
Am I alone in assuming that anyone who refers to their
Corvette as "her", or "she".... is Gay?
Hmmm .... For those who actually "name" their cars ... I'm wondering, do they actually come if you call them. So do you all teach them tricks, like to rollover or give you their right front tire or something? Do the Vehicles have conversions with you? Inquring minds would like to know ...
I'm not really sure if "naming" your car is a true test of gender preference or sexual orientation. I'm thinking probably not.
But for those that call their cars "baby" ... I'm thinking you may be on to something there.
