While I love the high rise ACI hood on my C5, I wasn't to crazy about the view of the back of it through the windshield. The standard screens were a little crude and the openings were nonfunctional because of the hood liner.
So I made up an aluminum filler panel and covered it with carbon fiber decal material. Then I added front license filler letters and a couple LEDs for turn signal indicators. I had some of the carbon fiber material left so I covered the rear portion underneath the hood. That was a real PITA because of the compound curves. As long as I was pissing away so much time, I decided to illuminate the letters for night time. After a long search I picked up a LED strip on Ebay all the way from Hong Kong. Here is the end result.
I have to shout a THANK YOU to Bob at ATI Performace Engineering who solved the mystery of how to wire the turn signal indicator lights. One would think that you could pick up power out of the front turn signal circuits. Not so, the signals are also used for the daytime running lights. Can't use the rear curcuit as you will also get the brake light power. Bob to the rescue. He told me the exact wires on the BCM that carried just the signal power. What a great forum, there is always someone who can help!
