OK opened up my key fob `00 battery is on one side circuit board on the other side. the battery is held by what looks like 4 or 5 little plastic tabs. I am concerned that if just pry the battery out I will break the tabs any trick or advice appreciated before I break those suckers off.

Hi Jerry -
The battery should pop out - push a couple of the tabs outward and then encourage the battery out that side.
I have a page posted on the following link, but your question brought up a glaring omission - there is no view of the battery side of the passive kind of fob.....I'll correct that in the near future.

Thanks for the reply but `00 fob is not the passive type hope your info still applies.

Hi Jerry -
i'll let you decide - I think yours is the "transitional" year - not stating fact here, I have no 2000 fob to compare to - but I think the 2000 fob was a "fatty", like the previous passive style fog, and then on 2001 they went to the skiny fob that the newer cars all had.
I would be guessing, but if you look at the pics I have on my site, I anm thinking your fob looks like the passive style, but does not have the passive switch.
