Default Heat ????

Why does the center console heat up alot? At the side of the seat next to the center console it's hot as hell? What can I do about it? Any info how to cool it down would be appreciated..
Thanks in advance,
Tony

Also it feels like it's throwing heat at the feet area......

the exhast is under the center tunnel. You can put some insulation on the inside, and some thing like the LAPD tunnel plate underneath in order to help with the heat.

It's mostly from the exhaust pipes that run through that area. The first time I took the center console apart; I lined that whole area with some dynamat type heat insulation material. I also put a layer along the side of the tunnel behind the carpet. It worked pretty good at keeping the heat down.

mine does this when the heat is on AUTO and turned up to a high temp. there is a heater tube down under the driver side dash by the center console. it is small and seems to just dangle there. see if you feel hot air coming out where the dash and console meet. if you do. turn off the auto temp and run bi-level defrost and heat and turn the temp down to around 70 or so. drove me nuts for a few days untill i figured this thing out. it was programmed to go to auto temp 80 degrees and to the floor every time i got in with the remote. i havent noticed the extreme heat since figuring this out. sometimes i wish my console would heat itself. i have a large billet shift **** that gets REAL cold on the 30 degree days we have been having here lately. the earlier posts about the exhaust running thru the center are also correct. but, hasnt seemed to cause mine to get hot enough to cause discomfort.

Tony,

Take a look at our temperature data. You can see our ceramic coated tunnel reinforcement plate really makes a difference.

I did the interior insulation first. It helped a lot. Just added tunnel plate and it helps more. I think C5 cowboy is source for precut kit.

Yes, use something like the Dynamat insulation under the carpet and it should cool it down a bit.
