i don't see the surprise...the vette had WAY more power, but the driver didn't have very much confidence in his car in the corners, not to mention he didn't have a rats *** clue where the lines were on that track.
Him: Suburu WRX STI - Intake, exhaust, tune. He autocrosses several events every year
Me: Stock 02 Coupe (down to the paper filter)- My first track day ever I was able to put down faster lap times at Talladega Gran Prix Raceway (by just a hair)

HAHAHA, The guy in the Subaru things he is keeping up? Not a chance! The vette driver was obviously having more fun in the straight aways than in the corners. He may have even been out there tuning for the straight aways and didn't even notice the buzzing behind him.
I also saw that the vette was pulling away in most corners very much like he spanked the import on the straight aways. The vette was so far ahead going into some of the corners (like the corner and straight where the video clip stated) you couldn't even see the car to tell what kind it was. The import was trying so hard that he was overdriving the corners and pushing the front end of his car into a terrible understeer every time! The vette was not breaking loose at all!
Just a ricer posting a lame video here trying to start a pissing war between the superior V8 powered supposedly S/C vette and an import.
I have run (if you want to call it that ) against quite a few stock WRX's at the track...no contest at all. In fact, coming up from behind, I have caught them in the twisties. Sometimes I have lapped them.
Now, that Vette driver needs a lot more experience...kinda reminds me of watching a couple of Vette owners & their first time at the track. I saw a great driver in a Ford Probe beat both the Corvettes.

I've learned from many mountain runs that it is always easier to "chase" when you aren't very familiar with the road or if your car isn't as fast or handles as well. Heck, a Miata can keep up with me if I don't know where I'm going!
