Are you sure you didn't get your tyres confused just now or, maybe, you took them off a while back and put them on wrong yourself and then stored the car until now?
It's just really surprising to hear that you both didn't notice this issue and that the car was operating flawlessly for months on end.

How could anyone drive the car for 8 months (even if it was garaged for part of it) without noticing that?
