Question about memory settings
I have my DIC programmed to utlilize the easy out function on my seat, steering wheel. I've noticed that sometimes when I get back in the car and put my key in, my memory setting kicks in and the seat and steering wheel adjusts/telescopes to the preset memory. Other times, it doesn't and I have to push the memory button on the door. What gives? Why the inconsistent operation? Am I doing something wrong? It would appear so.
If you push the unlock button on your fob the memory for that fob will activate when you put your key in. If you left your car unlocked when you left and just opened the door to get in, it doesn't know who you are so it does nothing.

If you stick the key in the ignition with the door open, the seat doesn't move. At least that's how it works on mine. Get in, close the door, put the key in the ignition, wait for the seat to move to it's preset postion, buckle up, start the car, and hang on!

I have an '03 and have noticed that when I get in without unlocking the car with the FOB the seat never moves. I always thought if you didn't unlock the car with the FOB, even if it was already unlocked, the computer had no idea who was getting in the car.
I also have an '05 Cadillac CTS-V with memory seats that operate a little different, they always move to the last driver position.

By jove, I think you've got it. Thanks for the tip. I've noticed it the most in my garage, when the car is unlocked... Many thanks.

Thats spot on
But for some reason mine still gets Alzheimers occasionally

Correct - unless you have a 97-00. The memory kicks in when the key is inserted in the ignition (and you have programed the Configuration to allow this)

Dennis is right - that's how mine works! I have a '98.

After reading everyone's comments, I tried it on my 2000. With the door already unlocked, I got in and inserted the key. Nothing happened. When I push the Memory 1 button (which is programmed for me) the seat goes right to where I set it. The memory doesn't need to know whose fob it is if the door is already unlocked. Apparently that's what the memory 1 & 2 buttons are for.
