I will be changing the rear end in my car soon from a 2.73 to a 3.42, and a yank torque converter.
My question is will the car be driveable (for a short time) with out changing anything in the computer, shift points, ect..? Or will I be getting all kinds of error codes flashing?

Since you have a 2.73 I will assume you have an AT. I would fix it ASAP. Can you drive it from one shop to another to fix it? Sure. Should you put off reprogramming it? Nope.

I have the same setup and while the car didnt throw codes, It did shift and behave erratically till after It was reprogrammed. Remember It still thinks you have the 273s and that wimpy GM Tq Con. Besides after it is tuned your gonna need a back brace when it puts your butt back in the seat
I plan on getting it tuned, I'm just not sure if they will be able to do it right away. Its not a daily driver so I'll just need to get it from the rear end shop to the tuner, or back home and then to the tuner.
My main concern is getting stranded, or causing harm to the drive line. Its about a three hour drive from the shop to my house, all highway. I thought I saw somewhere on this forum that you could drive it in 3rd gear rather than drive.
