Did a search, couldn't find answers to 2 questions:
1) How often does the filter needs to be cleaned? (I put on about 3k miles a year)
2) Do you have to 'de-install' the whole thing to clean it or is there a way to slip-off the filter part without having to disconnect the whole thing from the airbridge?
The filter has a little pop-up thingie on the top that is supposed to show when it needs cleaning. That being said, unless your 3k's worth of driving is all on dirt roads during cottonwood season, you could go a few years (at that rate) without cleaning.
Not sure I totally understand your 2nd question, but you will need to remove the filter unit (so it's just like when you first got it) from the MAF/airbridge, etc. to clean it.

You'll need to pull the filter off the car to clean - makes it so much easier. You can pretty much tell by just looking at the filter when it gets real dirty, but the filter does have an indicator to show when to clean.
