Both sides ended up with a similar scratch.

Part of my pre-ignition check-list is the Vert top latches....
I check them before I put on the seat belts

This happened to me a few days ago, but it was NOT my bad. It had been at the dealer for an inspection prior to purchasing a GMPP Major Guard warranty and they forgot to secure it. Suppose they would have covered any damage from leaving it unlatched? Doubt it!

Happened to me too-no damage done--lucky!!
Seems like they could have come up with a warning system such as the "Door ajar" and seatbelt warnings.

Great catch!!!!

No flames or jokes from me; I can see how it would happen and don't want to join the club.

Do you drive with your windows down and top up? I've seen this happen from the tonneau cover flapping with the windows down over a period of time... I don't see how the top flapping up would do this?

There's a service bulletin about some bolt in the top assembly that can be adjusted to stop the paint rubbing. I've got a small area like the one shown above on just the driver's side where the paint has worn off. I'm going to mention it to my dealer the next time I go in for service and see what they suggest.
