Why did you wait 2 years to change oil? I have never heard of anyone doing that. Even if you put 10 miles on your Vette in 2 years, condensation occurs in the oil pan so you should never let it go more than a year at most. I still can't believe anyone would wait 2 years to change oil
despite my friends scoffing at me, mine is changed at least every 6 months regardless of mileage which is often less than 1600 miles

OK that did it...I changed my mind...I am now going to change my oil every 10 years
I'm not saying that you can leave the oil in your engine for 10 years, I was referring to shelf life, which means you can keep unopened oil in your house for up to ten years and it's still safe to use.

So If I changed oil and didn't drive it for 10 years would that be ok?
About oil shelf life, does anyone realize how "old" oil is? It is from prehistoric plants decaying. It's literally millions of years old! I believe it's refined shelf live is at least 10 years, what's to go bad in a sealed container?
and btw...have you ever heard of anyone on earth using oil that has been on the shelf for 10 years?
Not very often, but it happens once in a while. The oil I've got stockpiled was made in 2004, and I won't finish it up until around 2008. So it's nice to know it'll still be safe to use.
