My ebrake seems a little weak. I have to pull it ALL the way up in order for it to hold. It just makes me a little nervous. Is there a way to adjust it or do i need to have it repaired/replaced. How expensive is it? Any ideas or what i should do?
This is very common with our cars . All you need to do is remove the rear rotors and adjust the slack out . I did this to mine , and I actually trust the e-brake now . (not a hard job) .
Good luck
I did my '99 recently. It's pretty easy. If you do a search on the forum you'll find a post from one of the members that wrote up the procedure step by step.
Quick fix.....roll down incline, pull up on e-brake, and it adjusts slack in cable (and stops you quick). Will hold for quite a while...then do it again. Works.

I like this method. After all, I thought these handbrakes were supposed to be self-adjusting, yes?
Only the slack in the cable adjusts via the "Pull up" method////
the shoes themselves are not self adjusting...
it requires you to remove the rear rotors and manually turn the star adjuster to increase the shoe diameter so they engage the drums properly..
Also don't forget about greasing the ratchet mechanism of the handle itself. Uusally the OEM grease becomes caked up from the tunnel heat over the years. Use brake kleen, get the crap out and then lube it up with machine oil etc.
On my car I adjusted the shoes to the rotors and it still didnt hold. After greasing the ratchet, it was much better.
