Default should i get a screen kit?

i cannot decide if i should get the z06 screen kit for 99 coupe. for the kit, it is like $215 or so. is there any difference between the kit or if i jus go to a local store and get the chrome mesh and double sticky tape it for like the 8th of the price? what do u all think looks better, the screen or no screen

I have had the screens on my last two c5's. Love the look. I have the Zo6 screens, the small inlet below them, side vents and rear fascia. I purchased my first set thru GM and the second off ebay. Honestly I cannot tell the difference and the aftermarket ones are alot cheaper. You'll hear good and bad about these products from Ebay but IMO they're too similar to pay the extra cost. Good luck.

I have looked at these since I got my car. I really like the look. How hard are they to install?

Get the screens, makes a world of difference. Lots of venders out there. You can get the price down.

What kills me is the completely disproportionate price on the screens at places like vetteshop.cc and others!! WTF?? They want $11.99 for the front brake ducts, $29.99 for the side screens and then $119.99 for the friggin front air ducts???!!! They know that is what people want the most, so they crank up the Corvette Tax. This is why people go to Home Depot and Lowes and do it themselves, until we start getting some decent, honest vendors of these screens. You can't tell me that from the front brake ducts for $11.99 to the front intakes costs the vendors over 900% more to produce! Do the math...a 900% mark up!!!! Friggin please......

The Zo6 screens, the ones below them and the rear are a piece of cake. The side ones are a bear. I put the first set on but live and learn. I went to my guys at the shop and let them do it on the lift. It's just easier to take some things apart to get your hands up in there. Made life more simple. Good luck, I think it's worth it in the end!

i have the got the kit from http://www.vetteshop.cc/ and it is easy to install. it take about half hour to put them in. most stay in with double sided tape. the only problem i had was the rear ones wouldnt stick on my car and seen other guys on the cf had same problem... i bought some epoxy and put some on and they hold great.... cant beat the price or the quality i would recomend them to anyone, but i would pick up some epoxy or some sort of glue just in case.

There's quite a bit of difference in the screens for the various vents and the ones for the fog light housing.

The brake duck, side gills and rear vent screens are merely stick on mesh and reasonably easy and cheap to produce. You can get the cheap gutter type material from Home Depot or the proper wire mesh screen from:

http://www.mcmaster.com/

I bought the OEM screens for the fog light housing. The wire mesh is fitted in a plastic housing which fits into the duct. Easy to fit and you can secure it with velcro. Worth the extra IMHO.

Sorry that you think we are not decent or honest but at $119.99 we make about $6.00 profit on the GM front fog screens...GM sets the price, not us...

On the other hand, our 6 piece screen set that we sell for $37.99 on our website can be found in the big catologs for $150...We will try harder to please in the future

Be careful installing the rear screeens. Obviously, I did it wrong as I lost them within a week. I have not had any trouble with any of the others.

Pleased me! I'm very happy with the screen set I ordered from you all. In fact I have been happy with anything I have ordered from you all thus far. Count on continued repeat business from me.
