Default Rocker panel thrashed!!

I was driving down the road, coming up to a stop sign. I noticed this big hump in the road about a foot in dia., it stuck up about 4-5 inches. No problem, I'll just go around it. Well, as I start around it, a car shoots up the road toward me, I was left of center to go around the hump, so I get back on my side, and crunch!!! I knew immediately what had happened.
So when I got home, I looked at it, couldn't see anything just standing there. Kneeled down and still could not see any damage. When I got down and looked up at the bottom from the ground, my stomach turned!! I have about a 2ft scrape, about 1.5" wide, and it's deep! It didn't look like anything was cracked, but I really could not tell.
I guess it will be ok, it's not visible unless you get on your hands and knees and look underneath the car, but it is the fact that I know its there!!! Thanks for letting me vent!!

Sorry about the crunch, that always sucks.

BUT

Try filing a Complaint/Claim with the city/town. Here if a fault in the road like a pothole cause damage to your car, you can make a claim with the city. Just take a picture, send it in with a letter. I hit a pothole 5 years ago with my wife's Bimmer and destroyed a rim and a tire. They paid the whole $500 and change for a new tire, rim, and misc stuff.

Good luck

Ouch, that really sucks, if you get a picture of the thing that damaged your car and call the county (if a couty road) or state (if a state road) there is a process to get the repairs reimbursed.

Sorry about the damage. Good luck with the city/county if you pursue reimbursement from them.

This is waht you need once you get it fixed up. It may even mask the damage.

You know, I've hit the bottom side of my rocker panels several times like that. Most of it was due to really tall, narrow speed bumps. At any rate I was thinking about something a bit more attractive than the rocker rails.

My plan is to get some thin aluminum polished "diamond plate", cut the pieces about as wide and run the length of the rocker. I figure I'll glue them into place.

Or, I could just forget about the whole thing and realize that with a lowered car (on stock bolts) , its just going to happen some time.
