I sort of understand the sercurity issue or privacy issue, but if you drive the car it is in the public eye at that time. If someone wants to get info, the sad part is they can do it no matter what we honest people do to stop them. The good guys are always one step behind reacting to the bad guys newest attack.

Your right it makes no sense to cover the plate up since its out their in plain view on the streets when we drive. The only times i have seen plates covered or blocked out is on tv when the police are chasing a car to stop them if they have done something wrong i guess they do that so no one looks up the persons plate and then finds out its their next door neighbor whos wanted for some kind of crime.
Why do peple cover up their license plate when displaying their Corvette photo?
Paranoia? Having watched too many spy movies? It's pretty funny really. Unless you're a cop or someone with access to several different states DMV databases having someones license plate will do nothing. Oh BTW, all those in this thread who have posted your plates..........your car will be stolen within the next 24 hours.
I think one of the big differences is that you don't often drive down the road advertising the tens of thousands of dollars some may have into their cars, but you do advertise that here. I always figured it needlessly made it easier for someone to find out your address. Maybe it is paranoia, but I have always hid my plate in my photos that I post publically.
