Default Last to Know?

Why do peple cover up their license plate when displaying their Corvette photo? I mean it's not like you drive around with it covered up. Am I the last one to know?

Because it is important that we maintain some level of mystery in our relationship. Else we lose the spark.

I've always wonder the same thing. I figured that it was some sort of privacy issue ... but than after thinking about that for a couple of minutes, it made no sense. So, in short, I guess I don't know either!

Only people with easy to remember vanity plates show them. Since they pay extra for them I guess they want people to see them.

monkey see monkey do....or is there a valid reason. I see the plates on the back at will, so why cover them up for photo sessions???

I think it is an identity / theft concern thing.....
this forum can link a name and a plate.... a name and the internet can get an address .....

It is a theft related security measure.A low life with a computer can find out where you live and lots of other personal info from your plate number. If it is a theft ring it is like shopping.JER

I wondered that, too. I always think my plates are rather clever and therefore display them, not hide them. But maybe I'm missing something too. If I get stalked and chopped up and thrown in a dumpster for showing my plate, you will have your answer. (now if I can only figure out the new camera so I can post some pictures!)

the reason i hide my plate in photos is hardly that no one ever sees it; rather, i make myself just a little more difficult target for those who might use public info for bad things. identity theft being what it is these days, i'd much rather that the bad guys pick on someone else. bub

Makes sense. But I guess the same thing could happen just driving down the street - the plate is clearly visible then.

Maybe they are embarrassed by their choice in vanity plates.
Maybe the got a personalized plate that reads YAGM1 Which may mean "yeah, its A General Motors" product. Buy when it gets read in a persons mirror, is makes a completely different statement.
