I know there was a member who stated that they bought a piece of weatherstripping from Home Depot or somewhere and made there own Performance Hood Seal instead of buying it for $15.99 at Mid America.
Does anybody know where to get a piece to fabricate yourself?

You better hurry up and get it...you're missing out on 34hp everyday!!!
Don't expect to get the maximum performance benefits from anything other than the original "Performance Hood Seal". This Lowes, Home Depot and Pep Boys crap just don't cut it! C'mon people! These are $50,000 sports cars. They deserve the kind of accessories that cost big bucks. You know, kinda like a Harley Davidson. $79.95 for 22 chrome plated sheet metal screws for under your hood, 89 bucks for one little aluminum LS1 fender badge. You get the picture.
Soooo, accept no substitutes!
Go for the real thing! Remember, unless you pop for at least $29.95, for a $3.00 item, (includes shipping and Corvette tax) you'll really never know what kind of performance your car is truely capable of.
Is this for real? I've seen several people make mention of it, but I'm still not sure if its saracasm...And if it is for real, HOW? thanks
Mostly everyone here is really downplaying the actual performance impact... some have seen less that 34 hp gain and some have seen much more than 34 hp.... HP can vary from car to car.
It's this freekin screen name......

Dog, they're yanking your chain.
The real benefit of the seal is that it keeps water from getting on an open filement filter, and keeps you engine a little cleaner. It can also help if you have other cold air intake systems.
