Good luck with your search . I have a 99 . it has manual heater controls ,I like them.
I do not think the Bose system was standard , I have it , sounds pretty good . I had a buyer locate my car , almost two years ago . It took about six weeks to find , but well worth the wait .
I am looking for one that atleast has HUD and/or Dual Climate.
Are these really worth it or can i swap the control units?
That's up to you, but since you asked I'll share my HO
I would focus more on the car's condition. Features like HUD, sound system, climate controls are a small factor in my opinion. Good luck with your search.
Don't insist on a HUD. It may be difficult to find those years with a HUD and you may have to pay a premium because it has it... It can easily be added (~$300) after you buy a C5 without HUD. Thats what I did!
Good luck on your search. I know what you're going through. It took me 6 months before I found the one that "talked" to me. You'll know when you find the right one.
a few thoughts if you don't mind: the hud is cool but may be hard to find. we have it & love it. the dual a/c gig is, imho, not a showstopper. on a hot summer day once you're underway & the a/c is blowing, who cares what the dash a/c controls look like. it's far more valuable to have good tunes, hud, & more all in a c5. besides, cynically the more complex a/c control is just one more thing that can break..........best of luck in your search. bub
Bose and HUD are certainly nice if you can find a car that has them, but the auto/dual CC isn't worht losing an otherwise good car over. A lot of people seem to have some problems with them (fading displays, HVAC doors that jam, etc) and the units seem to have a mind of thier own sometimes.
From what I understand it's a major, major job (lots of parts to replace) to swap one system for the other.
Good luck and don't worry -- the car you want is out there. You'll find it.
