OUR vettes,,,,,its MY vette......dont even try to tell me what to do...

[QUOTE=Nyte]We do it so our Vettes don't end up with Giant Wings, 20" spinners, and flashy gold vynal interiors with rhinestones everywhere.

Because of that I'd rather people come on and ask and get 60% YES/40% NO and do the mod

and...

0% yes/110% NO(!) and don't do the mod.

I see it being this scenario... I like two different sets of wheels... they are the same price. I cannot make up my mind, as I like them equally. I will query fellow enthusiasts and ask them what they think of each wheel... their feedback and opinions will become the basis for what made me choose one wheel over the other, as I myself liked both equally. Their feedback (Those are hot wheels!/I wouldn't wipe my butt with those wheels.) will help me make my decision.

We each have our own opinions, as demonstrated by our individual choices. The conflict arises when we we try to inflict our unwelcomed opinions, or contrary opinions.

If this forum was limited to discussions on how to make the car go faster only, or how to improve performance, it wouldn't be "General". I prefer to spend my time here as opposed to the FI Forum, or the Tech Forum - because of the nature of the discussions and topics.
I think you can take this "acceptance" thinking one step further to address why many of us got Vettes in the first place...using acceptance and attention (positive) interchangibly could explain why we got this great American icon vs. something that is fast and stealthy, etc. It is accepted by many a bystander, and gets lots of positive attention! AW c' on Wrusty. What's wrong with asking the opinion of the people whom you trust on dishing out advice? Nothing wrong with asking my husband "Does my butt look fat in these jeans" when I already have an opinion on whether or not it does. Sometimes I want some comfort of the one I care about by hearing, "It's ok, Honey, your butt looks fine." And so, "It's ok, Honey, your bsm's look fine!"

Aplogies is this has been said, but here goes.

I figure most people want to mod their rides. However, they aren't really all that opinionated and are open to any ideas that might come along. I am in this category to some degree. I know what I do like, but there are some things on which I could go either way. What's wrong with getting an opinion or 50 from others in your "clique?"

Also, there may be something that is actually a sort of taboo, and nobody wants to unknowingly bolt, glue, stick, strap or weld on something that is going to have others shaking their heads. We're only human.

I like your thinking.

It also helps to alter a common phrase when people post their responses...

That is, opinions are NOT always like a-holes, where everyone has them. But rather that opinions are most commonly given by them.

The reason I posted the BSM thread was not for the pleasing of others but for the most desired look for re-sale. If I was going to keep the car I would keep BSM. But I am not therefore I am looking for the largest percentage to steer the decision.
