I got the 80 code when I got rid of the stock radio and fitted my AVIC N1.
The PCM tries to communicate with the radio for the speed/volume function and it can't see it.
damn... did you try posting in the tech section?..... i'd say the radio was unplugged....was you in there doing anything??
It is throwing Code 80 no communication.
All this stuff happened after my H/C, 3200 Stall, 3:42 Diff etc........
How can the radio not play, what does that have to do with anything! I need some help!
In that case the 80 code is what you'd expect. The PCM is looking for the stock radio and can't see it.
If your radio is dead I guess you need to start troubleshooting the connections and fuses.
The fuse for the radio is in the footwell - fuse #5. Other functions have other fuses such as the Bose speakers and the antenna.
Degee!
I am not following. I checked the fuse for the radio and it is good! THis all happened two days after my install, so how can it just go faulty. It went out yesterday and when I got in the cat this morning it started working fine. Today I go to take a drive and it went out while I was driving and has not come back on since. Is there a way to reset it. Should I disconnect the battery and connect it again?
The 80 code is a Red Herring. If you took out your stock radio you can expect that
My AVIC can play hard to get at times. There are so many wires back there that things get pinched and the radio quits
Pull it out and check all the wires are connected. If it comes back to life, chances are you have a bad connection. If not, I'd reconnect all the wires starting with the obvious like Live, ground and so on.
To me if its completely dead it must be a fuse, ground or a power wire. If it was a speaker out you would at least have something. Try to Bose fuse # 20 something.
