If you are referring to the one that's got those nasty white tabs all around....you're right! The fit sucks and to even GET it to fit I had to whittle off quite a bit of the tab material.
But, it does keep that hot ol sun off me in the summer. If I want more air, I simply take the top off. I'd trade it in a heartbeat for a solid torch red one.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who's not in love with the glass top -- I found a solid one in NBM and sold the glass one that came with the car. Prior to that I tried the Mid-America insert and was pretty disappointed -- even once I got it to fit there there were still gaps around the edges, and it sagged a bit in the middle.
The solid top is SO much better in my opinion. Keep your eyes on the classifieds; I found mine for just $375. I've heard you can get one painted pretty reasonably inexpensivley, too, if you manage to find one that's not the right color.
there's a company in c-6 section that makes a padded insert, But so far none for c-5's. i believe the name is downsouthvettes or something like that. Maybe if enough asked they would be interested.

I've read a few post mentioning that they have had the glass tops painted to match the car. Usually the glass tops that are scratched, or have the tinting coming off.

If your glass one is in great shape, you can sell it for a pretty penny. Just buy a solid one that is scratched up. You'll get a great deal on it and can paint it to match your car. When it's all done, you'll have what you want and probably have a couple bucks in your pocket
