I'm 23 and michigan...i agree with the others who said no sense in waiting!
As for intake, I drive mine all the time, even in rain (not in snow though) and I was worried about the vararam intake causing hydrolock (although I think it probably has the best gain in the hp department). I went with a simple Z06 lid/cover...it gives a little boost in performance, looks stock, and is less likey to cause hydrolock.
As for exhaust, I went with corsa touring tigersharks (pacecar/indys will be more aggressive) although they are slightly expensive compared to the theres. However, it sounds great at WOT and is quieter than stock when cruising at 70mph...the best of both worlds!

The Blackwing is a fine product - have it on my car and like it alot. A good cat back exhaust will give you a minimal gain, but the sound will be a big plus. As to which system to go with - just depends on how loud you want to go.

congrats on the new vette. i just bought my 1st vette, unfortunately i'm about twice your age . i just put a variram and love it no problems at all. last week we put on some corsa touring exhaust with the pro series tips. they are not to loud when ideling and running at 70. but if you put your foot off in it they sound SWEET. not to loud . next is headers and hiflo cats and x pipe . can't wait!!!!!
Welcome And be prepared this place can become quite addicting Personally i would attend a corvette car show and get first hand knowledge on what different exhausts and intake systems others are using. That way you personally can make that call.
