Hi - my 03 vert sounds a little like a desel inside lately. it is a faint noise but noticeable inside the cabin. does not matter if engine is warm or not. clack - clack - clack. it does it in gear and in neutral. now nobody would say if it clacks like a duck it's a duck, would they?
is this engine noise due to valve clatter or piston slap or ? and is it adjustable with service. never made this noise the first 10K miles- about 14K now. Thanks in advance.
Sounds like Duck Slap. This can be fixed by a can of 'Donald Duck Piston Slap' Fixes the problem everytime
O.K. on the serious side, sounds like piston slap and first question: Did you fill up recently and was it somewhere you usually don't get gas? I say this b/ it sounds like bad gas or non-premium 87 octane.
Secondly, try a bottle of techron with a full tank of gas and drive til almost empty. Some have suggested for really bad carbon deposit to put 2 cans in a tank. (GM part #88861011 I think) Or use some 44K.

thanks - i use 93 octane always and at several stations. this has been going on for a few months so not sure about the bad gas theory. but i will give the techron a try. thanks for the input
