Use it or lose it?

For some reason, I'm scared that a brass gear might cause a complete failure if the worm gear jams. I'd rather have the plastic teeth "forgive" an operational error.
But, maybe I'm too ****, and I'm worrying for nothing, if headlight motors are cheap to begin with. Somehow I doubt that, because even floor mats cost twice is much for a vette than they do for other Chevys.
Never use it!!! if the motors and gears are weak they will gey weaker at 75 or 80 mph when the lights pop up. i started pulling off the road and stopping to turn on my light after i replaced the first motor in 2002.
4) If it was completely illegal to drive with only fog lights, the car manufacturer would not have made it possible to drive with only fogs.
.

Of course driving lights are best used with headlights. Although the lights on our cars stock are so bad that with good driving lights it's hard to tell if the headlights are even working.
As for driving with just fogs (the stockers) at night in fog... I'd keep it under 20. If the fog is so bad that the glare from properly adjusted low beams is blinding, it's too foggy to drive.
2) Dependencies are irrelevant. High beams and low beams BOTH shine higher, thus, BOTH cause undesirable reflection.
3) Duh, fog lamps and driving lamps are different. Fogs are low-powered and meant to reduce reflection off the fog.
4) If it was completely illegal to drive with only fog lights, the car manufacturer would not have made it possible to drive with only fogs.
And, FWIW, some laws are allowed to be broken. For example, you can break a traffic law when it's safer to NOT adhere to the regulation. For example, while you would normally get a ticket for driving down the shoulder of the freeway, if there was too much water from a heavy downpour in the normal lanes of traffic, you can be excused for driving on the shoulder. Similarly, you can get a ticket for driving 55mph in a 55mph zone if fog is so heavy that that speed is deemed unsafe for the conditions. The same holds true for fog lights. Typically, it is unsafe to run only fog lights at night because other drivers may not be able to see you well, due to fog lights being low-powered. However, if it's safer to run only fog lights, as might be the case in heavy fog, you can be excused.
Driving lights, on the other hand, are designed to assist in normal night driving, and are meant to be used in conjunction with low beams. In most states, it is illegal to drive with only driving lights. They MUST be used together with headlights. But, this is a moot point on this thread, because Vettes don't come with driving lights, and nobody was talking about driving lights.
Apparently.

The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts

I read something about 'twilight sentinal' and 'headlamp delay' in the manual but havn't tried it... might give it a shot. Love the gadgets on my car
All I know is I know what works and what doesn't, what is legal, and what is illegal.
I didn't bring all this up... you did. I was just stating what factory options I like to use as a point of reference to the original poster of this thread who asked whether or not I used the Twilight Sentinel option, and if not, why I didn't. Then, YOU came along and flamed me.
What'd you expect me to do? Let you tell me I'm wrong, when what you posted was wrong itself? Why is it that it's ok to flame me, and I don't have the right to substantiate my position? Sheesh...
Now, where is that emoticon with the guy puking when you need it?

Edit: I found it:

OK, now I can say at least I learned something from this thread.
My apologies to Girl-in-a-Box for this thread getting out of hand.

). I couldn't never see anthing with my fogs at night without the lows on. All that said, if you can deal with the coastal fog you get there, you are doing something right.
Another good point:

There is a delay, but there's just no way I want those lights worked out anymore than they have to.
