Last year i installed a BEL 905 Laser Jammer with a BEL 995 Radar Detector (they work together) this was in September of last year as a result of the speeding fines here going through the roof. And the fact that the locals use only Lasers instead of radars. Now i do lots of driving and dont always speed BUT the local LEO's like to sit at the bottom of hills and really use the tickets as a source of revenue (THEY FREELY ADMIT IT). Long story short i parked the car for the winter not knowing if my setup worked. So i bring the car out the other day and i am driving when i spot a speed trap - but i am in the wrong lane and not speeding. Cool - i turn around circle back and go through the trap. BUT they have 2 cars pulled over, so around i go again, same thing, 2 cars pulled over. Well after 5 attempts 1/2 a tank of gas about 45 minutes of time passing - i FINALLY have my answer - THE JAMMER WORKS i went through 10 kms over the limit and the Jammer lights up "BLOCKING LASER" Mr. LEO looks at me looks at his partner shakes his head and i sortof see him mouth - must have a jammer or something to that effect. I DONT CONDONE SPEEDING but this can save some cash for mods
Interesting. I don't condone speeding either and am a fairly "assertively conservative" driver. (I live in Jersey - you gotta drive defensively here but with a little edge... ) and I do run with a Escort 8500.
How does the technology work? Sounds like the jammer is a seperate unit, but interested in how the jammer and the detector work together. Thanks
yea they work awesome, ive passed a cop once who shot me multiple times and finnaly threw his hands up in the air frustrated as hell... man i laughed my *** off after i got out of his view.
I work for a company that custom installs K40 systems for multiple car dealerships around atlanta, I had one in my camaro that had a really easy place to mount the diffuser but never done a corvette before im curious where you chose to mount the diffuser/diffusers did ya just put it in the air dam? ... got any pics?
cant speak for the bell unit as i dont install them, but the k40 system is a radar head in the front a radar head in the rear with a diffuser mounted in the front bumper. The diffuser has to be in the open to see out... it sends out a 6 foot high 8 foot wide signal in the front of your car "jamming" the laser. The radar heads can see through fiberglass and plastic so they are usually hidden underneath the bumper, and of course when i run the wires they are also hidden. k40 has a new system called "calibre" that is bluetooth that sends the signals to the cab via bluetooth, i have done a few of these but tapping on for power in various locations doesnt excite me... especially on the newer luxury cars with like 50 billion computer sensors.
well k40 was one of the first to do it, and have always stayed on the top if not number 1 in all tests. I not saying you have to buy the k40 do what you want, i just know about the k40 because i install them =)
ill post my fliers i made for my company when i get a chance later, it shows the led bulbs in the instrument cluster that makes it a true STEALTH installation. The left led indicates the detection was from ahead of you and the right led indicates rear...both blinking indicates laser. It is truely an awesome unit.. will be in my car within the next week... its an expensive unit ~1595.00~ but if you want a custom clean and stealthy radar system that actually works then its worth it. Oh and one of my fliers i put the following tag lines..."suction cups are for amateurs"... and "high performance cars require high perfromance radar detectors"
Not sure if laser jammer works the same as radar jammer. Radar jammer works by canceling one signal and then amplfying the next. Radar guns shut down if signals are not real close to each other in readings. Result is gun will not give reading to officer.
Most States the Radar Jammer is illegal. The laser Jammer works and the k40 is a very clean and effective installation. Saving up for new pipes, after that I plan on doing a k40. It is an expensive install. Here is a link to the Calibre K40 system.
In my neck of the woods, we've got cops on bikes with handhelds... almost impossible to avoid.
I'd be very interested in comments from others on how effective these systems are at blocking radar/lasers, and mounting options for the C5.
Does anyone have any more experiences they can share? Please tell us about the type of eq and the way you've got it mounted.
I'm wondering what would happen if you're... oh say, 20-40 over in a 55, and the cop gets a false or no signal when he clocks you. Would he pull you over for an inspection and a ticket for driving in an unsafe manner?

I just wanted to offer my condolences for your being a Jersey Driver. I lived in Flemington for 10 years, and Id have to say there was probably a cop behind every other bush with a radar/laser. No wonder its been such a boon for doughnut shops! Funny how you learn to trust your detector when it goes off when it normally shouldn't. When traveling down the interstates, its funny how the traffic speeds way up in areas where cops cant hide, then decelerates in places where they can. Oh, those were the days.
Id have to suggest that if jammers work well, you'd certainly be one to benefit by one... 20-50 times a day!
Let us know if you get one. Id really like to hear about your results.

I hve the Escort SR7 With front and rear shifters on my 04. The shifters work great and when I get my speed in check I just tap a button installed on the center console to turn them off so the officer eventually gets a reading. We tested both front and rear and

That's interesting. Can you tell us more about it and how it works? I didn't quite follow how "shifters" work or what they are. Maybe also tell us what you meant about "getting your speed in check".
