Default Suspension Codes Question

Hope this is in the right section...didn't seem quite "tech" enough for that section...

Am considering a '98 Vert with the following three suspension codes:
FE1 - Suspension System - Soft Ride
F45 - Continuously Variable Real Time Damping
JL4 - Active Handling

Is my interpretation right that this is basically standard springs, the multi-setting shocks (**** in center console), and the electronic yaw/traction control system? Do these make a good combo together? Or is the almighty Z51 package incredibly better?

You have it correct.
Regarding is Z51 better ?... depends on the type of driving you are doing.
Some don't like the suspension stiffness "washboarding" from the Z51.....others here are not satisfied with the "almightly Z51" option and upgrade that to Z06 springs, shocks and swaybars or go to even stiffer Hotchkiss or T1 swaybars.
It really depends if the car is for street or track and if street means a lot of twisties "canyon driving"

You have it right - the other things besides springs though are thicker sway bars and a power steering cooler on the Z51 suspension.

The F45 (Selective Real Time Dampening) was the precursor to the F55 Magnetic Ride, and was discontinued when the F55 came out in '03.

Active Handling is really a totally separate system from the suspension. Here's an interesting read on what JL4 Active Handling is....

You can tighten up the handling inexpensively by adding Z51 sway bars - couple of hundred bux and you're set...
