C5 Magnesium Wheels
What do you guys think of the Magnesium C5 wheels?
I don't see many Vette's running these and I wonder why.
Please let me know what you think.
Thanks

I think the reason you don't see many of them is because it was a pricey option.

For the heck of it I priced them at a local Chevy dealer. They run about $4500.00 brand new. They're 30% lighter then the stock polished wheels.
What do you think of their looks?

For a couple of years, they were $3000. Then GM dropped the price to $2K. Not available in 2003. In 2004, I think they were $1K.
They are a great-looking wheel, imho....

I like them also. It is an option that I am looking for. Very hard to find. Anybody know how many were sold in 2003.

I personally love them. They are just too expensive to get now.

I totally agree, they're great looking wheels!
I've looked at so many after market wheels I can't take it anymore.
And I saw a set of these at the Chevy Vette Fest and thought they look clean and fast.
I see alot of vettes with the big and wide 19's and 20's and they look good also, but just not for me.
I think a vette should look like a vette, my opinion only.
Thanks

Pretty much the reason I bought them as well.

I've got them on my 2003 Vette & love them. Unfortunately they nick up rather easily.

The magnesium wheels look great on the C5. The only drawback with them is the paint tends to chip easily.

I loved the ones I had on mine and the only reason I took them off was because I needed wider rubber

I like the looks on most cars, but they're are expensive
and chip easlily.
However, I would consider picking up a nicer set some day for the track.

I have them on my '03 Spiral Gray, they were an option of about $1,700 if I remember correctly.
I like them because, like you say, you don't see them much..they are different.
Not as much of a "bling" factor, but more of a meaner, racey look, in my opinion

They came new with my 99 Mag REd vert as a $3000 option and they are beautiful. One of these days I will post a picture. They look fabulous on the Mag Red with the light oak top and interior. Perfect wheels in my opinion.
