Default C5 prices holding their value !!!!!!!

All of the so called experts claimed when the C6 came out the C5 prices would fall like a rock!

WRONG !

They are holding their values and in fact rising above the residual values.

Now even though l have no love for E-bay and find that most of the vettes are dealer owned or being sold by "curbstoning". this is an illegal practice when a salesperson takes home a vette and tries to sell it from their home. The E-bay prices are by far out of control most of the time. And the sick thing is that it is said that some of the bidders are bidding to bolster the prices when they think they have a sucker.

Look at our own for sale forum and you will also see price's that are higher then they should be even though the Spring has arrived.

Watch the bottom feeders spouting that they saw this and that and they could have bought this or that which we all know is a ploy to get a seller to drop his price.

In my opinion and l have sold my fair share of vettes, if the vette is priced right it should be gone in a week. If a vette just hangs around then buyer beware there is something wrong.

Or if a guy is asking $30,000 and you chew him down to $25,000 then you should be really concerned and your bargin of the century turns out to be a lemon.

The bottom line is that the C6 is not commanding the vette market like it should, maybe because we all know that we should wait until the new nose comes out with the new license plate placement.

It seems that most of the buyers of the C6 are first time buyers that don't know any better.

I am not talking about what is under the skin because in everybody's opinion it was a leap forward performance wise but the styling leaves a lot to be desired.

By the way the wholesale auctions are also bringing top dollar for the C5's and C5's only.

Alan

This is my two cents

I'd say you hit the nail on the head. I feel the C5 market bottomed about a year ago. Although patient buyer can still find a bargain occasionally.

Default This doesn't apply to you Tino !!!!!!!

The reason is that the Canadian dollar is getting stronger and the US dollar is getting weaker.

Todays conversion is $1.14 last year it was $1.30 canadian.

You would have to sell it in Canada.

Default Forget the books!!!!!!!!!

They are only guides and most of the time they are outdated and do not break it down to regions.

An 02 with 20,000 miles should almost hit $30,000 then add in the options, condition and color. So yes it is valued higher then it should be.

Alan

Your 02 is a coupe and it's Torch red with the clear top and the 6 spd. Are you from Ohio??

No surprise... Any car that routinely, effortlessly logs 30 Miles/per/Gallon these days will most certainly hold it's value.

I was bored today at work so I searched the local Recycler for C5's. I was amazed at the asking prices. Much higher than I thought. I got my '02 EB coupe, manual trans, with 5700 miles for $31,950.00 about 10 months ago. The pricing I saw today was still higher than that. Granted, deals can always be found for those looking high and low. So, I have to agree with this post!!!!!

Russ...

ps......I DID buy my car from eBay!!

On the few C5's that I have seen for sale around here, the asking price seems to be higher than I would have thought. Don't know how hard it will be to sell the cars though.
