Good morning everyone. I own a 2002 Torch Red Coupe with 13,000 on the clock and after returning from vacation, was gone a week, the battery on my car was dead!!! I had no signs of the battery about to go and as a matter of fact, the battery was only about 15 months old, it was an Interstate. It always shows 14.4 on the charging gauge while driving. Took the battery to my guy who tested it and said it was fine just drained. Anyone have an issue like this after their car sits for an extended period of time? Go the battery charged and back in and I am having no problems. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
Mine did the same thing........took it to the dealer and he replaced it under warranty. No more problems. The AGM's tend to fail like this according to the service manageer.
GM tech C4C5Specialist says the C5 is designed for the battery to hold starting voltage for 21 days. Did the battery guy do a deep cycle test? If he did it may be time to check for a voltage drain.

Something as simple as leaving a map light on would do it. I had my car detailed once and when they were cleaning the mirror they bumped a map light. After the first time I left it for a couple days, it was dead. Found the problem after I drove it at night for the first time. In the daylight, you don't even notice it.

Let me see if I got this correct.....you went on a "vacation" but it wasn't in your Vette?? :
Not much of a vacation, eh??
Yeah, your battery should have latest alot longer than a week without being used. I've had mine set 2-3 weeks before without problems. Still got it too.
Hello FixVet. We did go on vacation without the Vette as we flew out to your fine state for some R&R. Spent a week in Palm Springs and had a great time, lot's of sun, fun etc. I would love to make a trip out there in the Vette.

Hey RJ,
You're right, you need to make a long road trip. I drove back to Kansas City to see my kids last year and drove 4300 miles. Best trip I've ever had. Avg'd almost 30 mpg in my ol' '98 coupe. You could make it from Chi-town in 3 days one way, but you'd want to go slower thru the Colorado Rockies etc. Spectacular ride in a C5.
Let me know if you ever get to San Diego. We have cruise nights about 4 nights a week in different burbs in the county. You can't beat the weather either, as you already know by being in PS. SD is even better with the ocean breezes.
