New Corvette Key
Ok, first thoughts, they could save the money they spend on th black velvetine bag... and print a page of instructions. I did not want to break a $120 key... but it turns out, you just pry it open.. there are no pry areas like in the old fob. Then you have to pry out your old battery, and the spring steel contacts, and put in the new remote... now I got that done... and it works, but now it is set to Passive. The old remote had a slide switch.. the new one does not..and no provishion to put the old one in... I hate the Passive mode. How do you turn it off without a switch?
I got the key cut, and it does work good in both up or down... the lock smith was not happy that the key did not come out... and had to cut one side with the fob at a 90 degree.. the other side, could not cut that way.. so the had to put the key in backwards.. cut from the nose side. FYI
Ps I have an extra key with #6 pelet, and Silver insert, with colored flags on the back.... make me an offer.

This Corvette Key became an excellent "while im at it" mod.
I agree with you the Passive turned on sucks. When I walk around my house I hear my horm honk from the garage all day long (yes I know I can turn off the horn, but in a public place I like to get 100% conformation the car is locked while walking away).
I never had an orignal fob to see how the pressure pads made contact to turn on/off the passive feature.
I have no problem grabbing a sodering iron and scoring the pc board to perminanly disable the Passive feature.
