No C6 for me
you are correct. part of it. the rest was for the handeling, performance, and weight ratio. plus the wind tunnel had a little to do with this. per GM they tried extremely hard to make it appear as the c5 in looks but to completely change the car. considering, they did a great job. it has taken a year for me to get used to the non pop up headlights though. i got the opportunity to go to vegas and rip the new c6 and the new ssr w/6ltr around their speedway for an intro. the trip was very fun and informational about how the design, and changes made these much better as a world class sports car than the c5. alot was about the interior and going after a much larger buying crowd. easier in out access and such. i enjoy my c5 alot!!! i have wanted one for a long, long time. my c5 will not be replaced untill the day i DO buy a 06
Z06!!!!! like i have said the c6 IS a step above the c5 in lots of ways. but.... it does not warrant the xtra cost in comparison to me!!!!!!
by the way the blue book value of my 2000 cpe has went up the last 4 book changes and the market value has increased about $2k in the last 8 months also. meaning i can whsl it now for several thousand more than i paid when i purchased it in october!!!! all has to do with the cost of the new c6 and the people who have not gotten used to it as the new vett yet
oh, it helps there is not a book yet on even the 05 c6 yet. in real world comparison. not many could tell a performance diff between them....... so, c5 the best value going now!!!!!!!! and its looks are still very much the thing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But when it came down to it I decided I actually liked the C5 better and purchased a "new" (800 mile) C5.
So what didn't I like about the C6, fantastic as it is?
1) The C6 was less comfortable for me. Seats seemed very hard.
2) I didn't like the "computeresque" nature of the C6. Very in-your-face that you're buying an operating system as much as a car. Ok, so I'm old.
3) Although the C6 looks good, and the C5 is not perfect, I think the C5 definitely looks better. I just prefer the smooth idiom to the sharp one. The C5 looks both elegant and fast, the C6 has a hint of caricature to it.
4) If I could have bought a C6 Z06 at a reasonable price 1-3 would have become moot.
; in their very cores, both bear the essence of "corvette". i suspect & hope that one day i'll be driving a c6. minority opinion though this may be, i like the non-opening headlights on the c6----frankly & perhaps cynically, one less thing to break. bub
I love my C5 a lot, however I would absolutely love to get into a C6 right now. It'll be quite a few years before I can afford one though.

The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
It's a sleeper except it has under the hood a TTi Stage 1 twin turbo kit that ran 444 rwhp and 499 rwtq. Could go more but want to keep it safe with the stock block. I built it that way with the intentions to keep up with the new Z06.
, I'm far from ever considering a C6, the 6Z06 is only a consideration because of performance factor.
I'm glad I bought my 04 at 10k off sticker, and have no plans to let my old girlfriend go. Btw her name is Evette, she's a redhead, likes to go topless!
, keyless ignition) but there are many more aspects of the C5 that I prefer (LOOKS).
I like the C5 better.
C6 Z06 for me. That car is incredible. Last August while driving back to Pa from the Woodward Ave Dreamcruise in Detroit, I had the pleasure of following a fleet of 4 factory C6 Z06's heading to Carlisle. It was the most fun and most expeditious 100 miles I've ever driven.

I agree with the vast majority of this thread, to me it was ugly at first, but the C6 is growing on me. I'm considering going to trade my 04 Vert in for a C6 Vert.
