Default Fender to frame connection

I tried a search but didn't find any previous threads. I have found that I am getting a slight "wiggle" in my steering wheel at highway speeds. I have recently put 4 new OEM "Runflats" on the car and had it realigned. When I was changing my oil I noticed that the sheet metal screw & washer holding the front wheel fiberglass body panel was missing. I assume that at higher speeds this would be the cause of the vibration in the steering wheel that I feel. This is the screw located at the very bottom of the panel next to the door panel (underneath the car body). I have also found that the fiberglass panel has broken off around this area so that replacing with a stock screw and washer will not work (the "hole" and surrounding fiberglass in the panel where the screw would be placed is gone). Is this a common problem for C5's and does anyone have a "best fix" for this?

Thanks in advance for your help.

so...you are thinking the broken fender mount is whats causing vibration in the steering wheel? doubtful...maybe if the whole fender is noticeably flopping around you might notice some noise but i doubt any vibration in the steering wheel. if the stock area around the screw is missing, there might not be anything to screw back into...its not fiberglass BTW its plastic, urethane actually. the fenders are, the doors are SMC etc blah blah blah. anway, do what you can to "rig" it back i guess.

Have the tire dealer check the tire runout and the balance. Sometimes a simple remount where the tire is spun 180 degrees around the wheel will cure such wiggles. The fender has nothing to do with steering feel.

I agree, check the balance. Probably the cheapest place to start.

Thanks for the replies. I'll check the tire balance again.
