I put 21K miles on the 04 Vert and she's needing new shoes. The back ones are getting kind of bald. I know, gee emagine that.. Any recommendations on what to get? Should I stick with Goodyear stock or will another brand do better? It's a daily driver and I want to stay with run flats.
Did you have problems with the tires? If not, 21k is pretty good and I would stick with what is working with you. Other tires will start coming down to performance tires and treadwear will be less.
i used to have the stock runflats- i switched too kuhmos asx's and now i have the MX's - loved all my tires beside the stock ones. car feels alot better with the kuhmos - much better turning and really helps off the line - but if the stock runflats are what u like goo grab another pair
I dont like runflats but I hear lots of good things about the Michelin Pilot sport ZP's
About The Michelin Pilots ZP's
I just switched to the Pilots. Awesome Tire. Soft ride for a runflat and very little noise. I just took off the Firestone Firehawks. I had about 15-16k on them and they still had alot of tread left, they were also alot nicer than the Good Year "Junk"Flintstone Concrete Tires
The only reason I took the Firestones off was because I just got new rims and with the price of mounting the Run Flats I just went with new tires a little early.
I did hear about the Firestone and they have good ratings and a cheaper price then goodyear. I'll have to look into the Michelin Pilot as well. Goodyear stock run flats are just not a very good ride.

Some of the non-GY run flats are not repairable, they are not as wide as the GY and they don't have the great look of the GY. When it's time for me to replace my tires I'm going with GoodYear run flats.

Look at the Firestone Firehawk runflats - I have a set and have been very pleased with them. Good handling, nice ride and so far the wear has been very good.
I got about 21k from mine as well. But then I went to non-runflats.
Good luck with your choice. You may want to find local car clubs and get a few rides with different tire options before you buy an unknown (to you) set up.
when i need new sneakers, i plan to look, of course, @ www.tirerack.com and check the kuhmo runflats. price is much lower & the ratings are surprisingly good. bub

for the price, the Firehawk EMTs are hard to beat. I think I paid 250 for the fronts and 299 for the rears.
And I will agree that wear wise, they are great - the OEM GYs lasted about 22k, the FS's have lasted 35+ I need to replace the fronts again, but the rears still have plenty of life left.
But, I beg to differ on performance... at least a little.
I will agree Firehawks on the front are great,
but
on the rear, I've found them to be very slick when the temps drop into the mid 40's and lower.
I just put Michelin ZPs (zero pressure) on my 2000 after 30K on the origional Goodyears. They don't looks as wide as the Goodyears but, the ride is much improved!!! Got mine at Costco in Burbank, CA out the door for a little over $1300. Anderson is the tire manager at that store and his crew did a great job - from lifting the car to balancing and installation. The job took them about 1 1/2 hours because they were very careful with the car. They really knew how to do tires on a Vette.
I just changed mine, and went with NITTO 555's. AWSOME.
Smooth, quite, and very grippy.
I'm not one to promote something I don't get paid for, but I like these tires so far!!!
Bang for Buck, I think I found a good deal!
I, like many of my fellow members here regularly see Goodyear EMT mileage in the 43,000 to 49,000 mile range...
some of them do some aggressive driving on occasion, no flaming burnouts though...
While doing burn outs on occasion can be detrimental... running your tires with too much pressure will take its toll on the thread...
Do not let your tires get over 31 psi Hot... on a 90+ day.. black top roads can see surface temps in the 140/150 range//// this will take a 30 psi cold tire to 36/38 psi which will take its toll on your tread life...
When I bought my second set of EMT's I had 43,000 miles on them with 3/32 left on the front , and 2/32 on the rear, I could have put another 2,000 miles on them.....
