Even with the compass in the car, I've seen people who didnt know what their declination number was, and its different enough for the east coast vs the west coast to make a difference. Without the correct one, your compass readings will be off.

(I may be mistaken about the nomenclature, because I've been out of the military for a while now. I just remember what it does. You add or subtract it from the compass reading to get your actual heading)

Sorry, but compasses are for white hairs driving Buicks. I can look up at the sun or moon and tell what direction I'm going.

BTW I'm 54 yrs old and probably qualify as a white hair to alot of the youngsters on this forum.

If you're going to go through the trouble of replacing the mirror with a Gentex replacement, might I also suggest that you consider spending an additional $100 and get the version with Homelink remotes built into it, as well.

We don't know where we've been... don't know where we're going... never want to return.... just take the second star on the right, and on till morning....

Things you never want to hear: Captain saying, let me see that map...
LT saying, in my vast experience
CWO saying, I have the flight controls, watch this

Everybody tells me where to go, so I don't need a compass.

I also miss the compass especially when you're in the middle of nowhere and at night...
