Even with the compass in the car, I've seen people who didnt know what their declination number was, and its different enough for the east coast vs the west coast to make a difference. Without the correct one, your compass readings will be off.
(I may be mistaken about the nomenclature, because I've been out of the military for a while now. I just remember what it does. You add or subtract it from the compass reading to get your actual heading)

If you're going to go through the trouble of replacing the mirror with a Gentex replacement, might I also suggest that you consider spending an additional $100 and get the version with Homelink remotes built into it, as well.

I love my C5 but really miss not having a compass. Every other car I have had since 1998 has had one. Anyone know why GM chose not to put at leat an 8 direction digital in the car? Also, anyone using an add on that fits well with the C5?
