Default Why no compass

I love my C5 but really miss not having a compass. Every other car I have had since 1998 has had one. Anyone know why GM chose not to put at leat an 8 direction digital in the car? Also, anyone using an add on that fits well with the C5?

Just wondering.............

It's a weight thing -- by removing the compass, you get at least 15 RWHP

Hey, if you're out driving the C5, why worry about the direction?

Here's one, but it replaces the entire mirror instead of just adding the compass feature: http://accessory-center.com/series.plx/30/1533/1865

I picked up a compass at Pep Boys for about $2.00…..It sticks on with a suction cup….mounted it on the upper left corner of the windshield. Great when traveling away from home on a strange road. I believe the C6 has a compass.

I added it. Picked up a Gentex mirror w/compass on eBay and installed. Piece of cake.

Anything special about the hookup; do you just plug in the electrical plug that is there for the mirror?

Same question to you. Do you just use the wire hookup that is there for the mirror; or do you have to change anything?
