C5 Tire size switch---HELP....
My 2000 vert needs new skins and I need some advise. I have stock rims and will leave them on my car. I have been told that I can switch from 245-45-17 fronts,275-40-18 rears to 255-40-17 fronts and 285-35-18 rears. Are there any problems that could come up from doing this? Will there be any contact from any body or suspension parts? What if anything am I gaining by doing this? I am thinking about the Goodyear Eagle GS-D3. Your tire choice recomedations will be appreciated.

Firstly, congratulations, and welcome to the CF family. Glad to have you aboard. The alternative sizing that you have posted is what is termed a classic "Plus 0" tire size upgrade (255/40-17 fronts coupled to 285/35-18 rears) which is basically one size up in tire width from the original equipment sizes of the Corvette C5 which are 245/45-17 fronts coupled to 275/40-18 rears. Fortunately, you will find a multitude of tire brand and model choices in the newer upgraded "Plus 0" sizes (front and rear) to choose from such as the Nitto, Falken, Michelin, Goodyear, Dunlop, and, Yokohama, etc. One of the better all around low cost values is the Falken Beta FK-451.
