I have it on both my Verts - and have used the K40 on a number of other Vettes I've owned.
I am very, very satisfied with these units.
If you are having it installed, be SURE to have the 'activation lights' installed in your dash cluster (I have mine installed with LED's, one on the left, one on the right below the gauges).
I have a spare K40 if you are interested - price (uninstalled ) is $600.00.
i hear its very good. but it needs a pro install - hence part of the cost.
the funny thing is ...with the conetation of using bluetooth - you intricate wiring is needed, they just mount it and wire up the receiver in the cabin and not go thru part (not all , they still mount LEDS into your dash) of the install co$t.
so id say the price should be less than it used to be...
(but then again, maybe that price is...)
i like the idea of having it built in and not needing to keep removing it each time i go someplace...and hidden as well...
check out the escort zr3 or whatever, some chaps rave about them as well...

CALIBRE is also the only system you control with a hand-held remote, about the size of a key fob. And it's just as easy to use. With no permanently installed buttons to clutter your interior or to fuss with, you just click to select these modes: On/Off, City/Highway, Voice/Tone and Volume/Mute, then put your Wireless OneTouch™ Remote Control away until you want to change preferences. damn, seems cool. and minus the pro install now??? want 1!

I'd say save your money and buy a Valentine 1. It does a fantastic job and is not permanently installed so you could use it in other cars if you need to. IMHO, it's better than the K-40.
DO NOT GET A K40 because they are overpriced and don't work as well as the Valentine One. They shot a video of the new K40 in action and the radar detection was equal to a Cobra or Whistler radar detector and it couldn't jam a single laser gun on the market today. Radar Roy over at Radarbusters.com had the video posted but K40 threatened him with a lawsuit so he was legally forced to remove the video from his website and any mention of it on his radardetector.net site. Have you noticed that there is no video or testing on the K40 laser jammer.....it is because it doesn't work at all.
If you want an average radar detector with no laser jamming for $1500-$2000, the K40 is for you.
Take a look at this system http://www.beltronicspro.com/rx75.html
Beltronics Pro RX75 custom installed radar/laser system. This system is 800.00 less than the K40 installed. Not Bluetooth, but wireing is not a real problem with the vette.
1500 on a radar/laser detector?? uh, isnt it easier to just watch for speed traps or better yet, go closer to the speed limit? i cant see how paying that much would offset the once in a blue moon ticket that one might recieve, and if you drive poorly enough to recieve enough tickets in order to justify the cost, i hope to hel_l_ im off the road before you get on it.

Tickets are cheaper. I've had my $299 Escort for over 20 years and I have had ZERO tickets (time out to knock on wood). Why would anyone pay 5 times as much for the same result?
Thats kinda hard to believe... I mean ya we seen them install it but was the power even on? Not saying their lieing but damn how does a company so big ( installs ton's of exotic cars and even had arrangements with some dealerships) make a product like that and not have it work at all? I might install and see if I can't get one of my local blues to hit up a dead road and test it out... I'll call it a school project
hmm i'd never heard anything bad about the system til now.. I think i'll do some more research.
more imput is welcomed.
I dont' drive dangerously.. but I do like to go faster from time to time than the local laws permit... Flame if you want... but while I ticket migh be $100 here and there... the insurance increase will eat one alive... especially at my age...
Try NYC prices!!! i paid a heck of a lot more than $1500 for the system with install. honestly, i miss my valentine1 - i cant hear the K40 and if its daytime i cant see the LED. I hate staring down at the lights when im doing 140 because i know i wont be able to hear the radar - i should be looking at the road!!!!! also the system sometimes does not respond to the remote. anyone want to buy mine?

Many of the responses negative to the K40 obviously come from individuals that have an ax to grind (don't have the $$ for it, or are stuck with their window mounted units, etc.).
A real life test:
A few years ago our club had race track day.
We had a LEO in the club bring his laser and radar units to the track.
After my car had been 'shot'. the LEO asked me how mine looked invisible to the laser
On the radar - my K40 activated almost exactly at the same time as others.
Most of the K40 benefits resides in the fact it can be totally hidden. No worry about having the unit stolen, or seen if a LEO were to stop you.
As to the radar - I have 8500's in my dd's - they seem to work the same as the K40 - no better, no worse.
The BEST protection is to ensure that you are not breaking the speed limit - period.
does anyone have a problem hearing or seeing the K40 Calibre radar when it goes off.. any reccomendations for me? my guy says we can move the LEDs to the mirror - thoughts?

I recommend:
Have the LED's installed in the dash cluster (very professional look, and easy to see).
Have the 'small speakers' installed on the panel to the l;eft of the drivers sear (rear).
Use three speakers - one for front, one for rear, and one for Laser.
