I had the rear wheels off my 2 week hold 2000 C5 Convertible painting the calipers and found a nail in the inside passenger side, side wall. I was not happy since I just bought her 2 weeks ago. I am sure you know the cost of tires for a Vette isn't a big suprise but what are your recommendations of vendors?
Also, has anyone ever lost pressure on your run flats? What are the rules when driving on the flats? Like no faster than 60mph?
If it weren't on the side wall but on the tread, can they still be patched?
I plan on driving with the nail still in and I keep an eye on the PSI. I just don't feel like dishing out $400 so soon. I am asking these questions because I don't want to do any additional harm.
50 mph is the max for 200 miles for the GY EMT's to be repairable....

He has helped a lot of us out with tire issues
Me too(staple). Discount tire was cheaper for me. Free delivery too. Most dealers would not repair my tire. Said "liability issues" prevented repair. GY does not recommend EVER repairing runflats. Think: $350 flat repair. Good thing this car is soooooo dam good. Great xperience w/discount tire though.
Basically, a nail in the sidewall would necessitate the replacement of that tire. The Tire Rack and Discount Tire are great resources. Call and compare. And, in a nutshell, fellow CF member, rws.1 is correct regarding the driveability of a runflat with a nail imbedded into the tire tread. Good luck to you.

I prefer SamsClub. The rear GY runflat is $272.42. Their instillation is 10.00 and includes lifetime rebalance, roadhazard and free flat repair.
If you replace the one rear tire, you might need to replace the other one if the tread is pretty worn. Let me guess: The nail was in the passenger rear tire?

you could run it ... if all your trips are planned to be less than 200 miles, and feel confident that when it lets loose you won't be in a hrad corner. Anyway you put it you're on borrowed time.
