Aloha folks, just back from my little overseas trip with and noticed something about my Z (missed driving her for a month! ). I've a quick question for the experts out there...
Anyone out there ever attempt adjusting the fenders, rocker-panels, etc. for a better fit? I've noticed the gap between my right rear quarter-panel & rocker-panel is a little more than what I see on the left side (basically a gap in the panel line above the rear brake duct of 1/4" vs. 1/8"). I've also noticed the 3 torqex fasteners at the rear door jam securing "something"... Will loosening these fasters allow me to better align the panel & reduce the gap? Is this sort of thing a "user" type fix or should I take her to a good body & fender guy (only one I know of in Honolulu).
I drove over a curb once and ruined the front right inner wheel house. It actually seperated from the frame, and it holds the fender in place. I replaced the wheel house and tried to adjust it. For lack of a better term, it is VERY HARD to adjust it yourself. You have to shim the thickness of the glue of the wheel house to adjust the fender. Not to mention theres an infinite amount of adjustment such as up/down, side/side, upper tilt, lower tilt, forwards and back rotation etc... if any of these arent right it won't line up.
I have yet to get this fixed, cause other expenses/toys keep coming up but one day I do plan to get this fixed...
