99 Coupe Engine Swap LS1:LS2
An opportunity came about for me to swap out my LS1 for a brand new LS2 motor and I figured I'd change the 3.15's to 3.42's while I was at it. The diff is also brand new and it is a complete unit, not just gears. I currently sport the B&B Route 66 Cat Back with oval tips (awesome tone BTW). I wanted to do headers with X-pipe, but funds ran low. Maybe later. Regardless, the difference from my old set-up to the new set-up should be rewarding. This is my DD so I don't want to get too radical with it.
Question: Has anyone heard of a Special/Limited Edition LS2 pushing 446 hp opposed to the standard 400 hp? I can't find anything on such an animal and figured I'd throw it out there. I'll let you know how this thing turns out and how pleased I am with the results.

I've order the motor and getting the work done from a reputable place that I normally go to. Got the rear end from an awesome cat from CF, "Indianavette". Super friendly guy with awesome customer service.
Once I get more specifics on the motor I'll post. Hopefully I'm not talking out my back side passing bum scoop.

In the GM High Tech Preformance Magazine
They did an engine dyno test on the LS2 with a base line run (with a .5HP) for their testing. It was recorded at 402.1 which sounds good to me
They also did some different cam setups and came up with some impresive numbers They added a "stage 1" cam (with out head change)with 218/220 @.50 .570 lift (114 lobe separation angle) and they got about 90 more HP out of the LS2.
But no I've never heard of a special edition/ limited edition from GM.

I'm actually waiting for the day my LS1 gives up the ghost - and I will move to an LS6. Prolly should buy one now and put it in the garage.
But I know for a fact there is an LS6 to LS2 conversion kit - I've seen the bags of cables with these markings on them.
Why go from an LS6 to an LS2? Saw it happen on a Z06.
Because a crate LS7 was hard to come by.
And, they put new heads on - so with a 6 liter motor, they were looking for 500+ HP.
Of course, I assumed there was some money involved.
