Default Which suspension package do I have?

How does one find out what suspension package one has? Most of the numbers on the inside of my glove box are worn off so I cannot tell from those numbers.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Bob

You can get a build sheet from the NCM for $40.

there are two "f" codes for this car
fe1 and fe9
give me a minute and i will post the rest of your codes

build list as follows
aab-ag2-ak5-aq9-bgr-b34-b84-cc3-cj2-dl5-dl8-d42-gu6-il3-jl4-jl9-k63-ls1-mm6-mn6-nf2-nk4-qd4-r9u-t96-ul0-uv7-uz6-u1s-u52-vm3-v73-xgg-ygh-1ay-1sa-13u-92i-923. thats how the factory build her!!
your column lock recal is still open also number "04006"
those are the numbers for the build. not all of these would be on the glove box sticker. but they would be on the little build sheet paper rolled up and tucked in the frame rail on the passenger side. course taken the front bumper cover off is kinda a pain!!!! hope that helps you

Wow, was that quick!

I've copied your information down. Thank you... now I just have to figure out what all these numbers/letters mean.

I reference to the column lock. I have already had that "fixed" three times...but that is another story.....

Curious, how did you come by this information about the buld...and so quickly?

hey, your secret is safe with me and any other forum members that may read this thread!

Can you point me in the right direction so I can learn more about what these codes mean? You mentioned my car has the code fe1 and fe9... sorry, but what do those mean? I have a copy of the Black book for 1953-2000, I looked up the info for the "99", didn't see anything of these codes. I did a quick websearch on codes and found something on the "97" about fe1 meaning base suspension... but what about the fe9?

Ok, so here is what brought all this on in the first place. I have the original front leaf spring to my "99" that I posted on CF for sale. I am asked what suspension do I have? Uh... is my answer... So I go to my parts manual CD (that I bought off e-bay) that shows the front spring(s) depending what suspension. They give two different part numbers:

It shows a part number #22178728 for the 97-02 (FE1) (exc F45).

It shows part number # 22178748 for the 97-02 (FE1, F45)

So I go to the garage and pull the part out of storage and on it is stamped 22146483 with the numbers 1-4 stamped about that. Huh? I'm confused.

The following site has one of the most comprehensive lists of C5 Regular Production Option (RPO) codes that I have found:

Chevrolet Corvette C5 RPO Code List

Here are the RPO codes for the Various C5 suspensions (FE1 is the Base Suspension):

F45 Chassis, Selective Real Time Damping
F55 Continuously Variable Electronic Real Time Damping Suspension by Delphi (or Magnetic Selective Ride Control as it is most often called.)
FE1 Base Suspension
FE3 Suspension System, Sport (part of Z51)
FE4 Suspension System, Z06

The FE1, F45 and F55 all used a number of the same components for their respective model years when it came to springs and stabilizer bars. FE9 is not a suspension, but rather the RPO Code for the Federal Emission Certification.

Hope this helps.

you have the FE1 suspension. fe9 is some other code the factory used in the build proccess. i am not sure what it is. my guess. the shocks!!

i HAD the FE1 springs also on mine. if you want to change them it can be done without to much trouble. you can buy them on the for sale section pretty cheap. they are lots o'money from the parts department though new found this out when i had to raise mine back to stk hieght to clear the wierd driveway i have. i tried to buy the front spring bolts/bushings. found out it is not a serviceable part. you have to buy the entire front spring to get them. i thaught that was quite the thing. lots of people cut the bushings to lower these. bummer for us who cant have them that low.
hope the other info helped ya
ron

hey i just learned something also. looks like FE9 is the emission code. i did not know that!!! thanks grayc5
that is a cool decode it sight!!!!!!!

hey rgtkst & GrayC5:

Thank you both for all your help and knowledge. I have been looking over the website on Build codes that GrayC5 offered up, very comprehensive.

I really appreciate all of the feedback. I have to say it again, the people that I meet on CF are just the greatest.

Thank you,

~Bob
