Just got my first vette last week at the age of 47. Went to the gas station for gas, got out and left the key and remote (in passive) in the ignition. Needless to say it locked itself and I looked like a fool sitting by my vette till the spare key arrived. LEARNED A VALUABLE LESSON !!!

Interesting that it would lock itself, the remote is supposed to send the lock/unlock signal at range of about 25 ft. You might want to change the battery in that key fob, it might be sending out a weak signal.

welcome!
i dont think it should lock in the car!
i heard if you call someone and have them unlock the car from the other FOB over the phone it will unlock it... I have not tried it and i am not sure if it works maybe next time try this first.

The fob's work on low power RF signals. It wont pass anything over a telephone line that will unlock the doors.
I thought you could shake the car hard from the outside and it will unlock itself?
The car locked because the passive remote went to sleep. You can shake the car enough to move the remote and it will wake up and send a signal to let the car know it is in range.
