Before you do, drive a Civic Hybrid first. They're not that much more expensive, get 50 MPG, and are 2X the car IMO. Believe me, I've driven both plenty - though if you were keeping the Corvette it might be a different story. Visit my company's website (in my sig) for more info (shameless plug)
I know this may seem wacky, and youll probably think im stupid for doing this, but im thinking of selling my c5 vert and buying a Honda..........insight. The vette is fun but i never take it to the track and never go fast, so whats the point? I get 22 mpg in it, which is pretty good. However, in the Insight i can get 60 to 66 mpg, and it will be a lot cheaper so ill be saving loads and loads of money each month. Im going to do this regardless, but what do you guys think?
I think you're breaking chops....
You say you never take it to the track or drive fast, but you've got an 11 second club AV, so what gives?!?!?
Personally, I think you're out of your mind if you sell the ride and get a hybrid, but why stop there? Why not really save gas and just go buy yourself a MoPed???
The depreciation on your Vette is likely to eat up a good chunk of what you will save in gas.
I think most of the hybrids are not great bang for the bucks. You can get a base Civic or Corolla for substantially less than most of the hybrids and still get damn good gas mileage.
The Insight will have very narrow appeal as a resale vehicle. If you MUST get a hybrid at least get the Civic or Prius.
i think this guy is pulling everyones chain.....especially when in another thread he posted this...............

Why not go for the Honda Fit- it is a new 5 door and runs on a small 4cyl engine. Expected to get at least 35Mpg if not more on the Hwy. Oh yeah and retail price is around 14k. MUCH less expensive than a hybrid. If you purchase this you can keep the vette and still save a fortune on gas.
Btw- look into what responsibility you have with a Hybrid when it is time to junk it (battery disposal).
And you will not get 60+ Mpg in a hybrid- the EPA estimates are way off and are being re-done to take into account more real life driving situations. You will get in the low 50's (which is still good....)
I don't take my vette to the track or drive it fast either. But the car is an icon, gets great gas mileage, and is a pleasure to cruise in and get attention. It's also good therapy when you have a bad day at work, something your boring bland Honda will never ever be!!
You ought to take a look at the new Camry Hybrid. The new Camry is a huge leap forward as far as the "looks" department in the Camry. The front end looks like an Acura TL.
Also Prius will have the best resale value of all of the Hybrids. There's still waiting lists on new ones. This drives resale value up!
sounds like a troll thread! Keep the vette and get a scooter! Cheap, cool (if it's an old Vespa) and even better on gas than the Insight. Ever price the batteries on that car?

Good catch!
I think you nailed 'em.
Giving up a Vette -- right.
Gas prices will go back down, even if it causes us to park the Vettes for a month or two. Already the EPA restrictions have been eased so gas will flow as it appears to be in this thread...
