I know this may seem wacky, and youll probably think im stupid for doing this, but im thinking of selling my c5 vert and buying a Honda..........insight. The vette is fun but i never take it to the track and never go fast, so whats the point? I get 22 mpg in it, which is pretty good. However, in the Insight i can get 60 to 66 mpg, and it will be a lot cheaper so ill be saving loads and loads of money each month. Im going to do this regardless, but what do you guys think?
You have to do what is best for you and your finances. It's not like there will never be another Corvette for sale in the future. You can always buy yourself another one when $ permits.
Some of the hybrids will absolutely get that kind of mileage, when driven around town (surface streets). They excel in stop-and-go traffic, because the gasoline engine isn't running when you're moving at < 10-15 mph.
On the open road (uncongested freeway), the mileage isn't much better than any other economy car due to the fact that you're running the gas engine full time.

But for me 0-60 in 30 days or the 1/4 mile in a year just wouldn't get it done.
well, my little paid for 96 dodge neon got me 38mpg on one trip to austin.....it consistently gets 30 on half city/half hwy. w/that i get to have the econo car as well as the vette. i dont have to turn in my man card and sell the vette, all i have to do is hide it when i drive it hahaha.
seriously, i woudnt do it but if u have to, go ahead.
