I you have the base suspension, the Z06 swaybars are a very worth it mod! Sway bars keep your car flat when cornering for better handling. Sway bars should be called anti-swaybars.

I beleive what you are experiencing is bump-steer. Sometimes a good alignment or a bump-steer kit will solve this. Other times, you just have to deal with it. A good set of performance shocks like Bilsteins, Z06, or Penskys will reduce and dampen the bounce over stock base shocks.

I added them to my base suspened car. They flattened it out some but the thing that made my car ride far better and more controlled on rough roads was adding Bilstein Sports, then Z06 springs. They all seem to work very well as a complete package and my car actually rides better now than with the base set up. I would add the shocks first, then the bars etc later.

Here's the difference...

Base Suspension: 23mm-front / 19.1mm-rear
Z51 (97-99): 25.4mm-front / 21.7mm-rear
Z51 (00-04): 28.6mm-front / 23.6mm-rear
Z06: 30.0mm-front / 23.6mm-rear
Hotchkis: 31.75mm-front / 25.4mm-rear
T1 (GM): 38.4mm-front / 27.5mm-rear

Stabilizer Bars: We started with Z51's, then went to Hotchkis, & ended up with T-1's.
Shocks: Started with Z51's, then Bilsteins...we are now running QA-1 Adjustables.

If you are just looking for better handling on the street, then Z06 bars should be fine. If you want to track your car, then Hotchkis or T-1's are the better choices. BTW you should be able to find Z06 bars at a good price in the 'Parts for Sale' section.

The Z06 Sway bars make a huge difference in the way the car handles. Bump steer was a bit of a problem, but went away when I installed the 06Z06 shocks.

Sway bars are very easy to install, even for a novice.
The shocks were not much harder to do once I figured out the first one. The rest were very easy. Now the car rides on rails!
You won't be sorry.

Default Z06 Bars, how a Corvette should handle

I have a 2002 Corvette Coupe with the base suspension as well that I purchased a few years ago. This was my first Corvette. I was a little disapointed how the handeling was with the base suspension so I decided last fall to purchase the Z06 Bars based on reading many recomendations on this Forum.

I installed them a month or so ago, it took about 2 hours to do. I have a Kwiklift so it was a little eaiser to do.

My Coupe and I don't get out much but I can tell you from some short recent drives on the highway, taking exits, and back roads that these bars made a world of difference and now my C5 Coupe drives more like I had expected a Corvette to handle.

This Mod is well worth the money in my and others opinions. Don't hesitate, order them today. You will not be disapointed with just the
Z06 Bar modification.

Also a good mod for cars equipped with F55 - levels out cornering. Does not affect the action of the MSRC shocks on either setting.

The C6 Z06 sway bars will not fit on a C5. The C6 Z06 shocks will though.

I replaced my stock sways last summer with the C5 Z06 sways and loved them instantly. This year I added adjustable endlinks to do corner weight and boy the car really handles.

Now I want the next level so I am replacing the Z06 sways with the T1 bars this week though I went back and forth with the idea a million times because I love the Z06 sways and the T1s will be a harsher ride.

You will love them

Upgraded mine a while back from base to Z06 sways and 04 Z06 shocks. Huge improvement as others have said. I think the shock make more difference than the sways in 75% of my driving.

Just finished putting mine on yesterday afternoon. After only a few short drives I can tell you it really does make a difference in handling and ride. I'd highly recommend the mods. Bilstein Sports. Z06 swaybars, metal end links
