Default Thoughts on upgrading exhaust system...

Guys,

I've recently installed a set of Borla Stingers and now the mod bug has bitten me

I'm toying with the idea of replacing the entire system, headers all the way down to my new Stingers. I recently picked up a new rattling noise which I think is being created by my stock cats.

Can anyone suggest the approprate stepsI should take and or suggested hardware. Is there any reason I shouldn't just buy Borla all around? Also, for example, do I need to have her tuned after installing new headers and etc?

She is an 03' coupe, 6 speed, just rolled 17k, Bassani X pipe and a fresh set of stingers. I suppose I'll be needing some better tires soon.

A callaway honker intake, LG longtubes, and a nice retune could net you some serious tire scrorching HP's, good luck!

Guys,

Any comments? I suppose I could always just install a set of highflow cats?

It's most likely NOT your stock cats making that noise, it's your stock H-pipe. It's notorious for that.

I know the noise you're referring to. That is why I installed an X pipe a couple years back. I'm referring to different rattling..

I know how you feel. I got lucky, and my cats blew up on me, talk about a terible noise! Gave me a great excuse to replace the whole exhaust train. New Long tube headers, high flow cats, x-pipe and Magnaflow exhaust. Best improvement ive ever done. Definitely a mod you can feel, probably added about 25-30 hp.

Quit thinking about it and just DO IT! Youll find great deals on everything here at the forum.

Was there any reason you chose short versus long tupe headers?

Actually I was wrong with my post, I actually installed long tube headers, duh. Better performance. Git them thru a Group purchase here on the forum.

Get some LG or Dynatech LT headers and since you already have the X-pipe and cat backs, all you will need is some high flow cats. A retune would be a good idea to get maximum HP gains.

I think any type of LT headers with high flow cats would really be hot!
